Position: Senior Accountant
Location: Kinshasa
We seek to recruit a Senior Accountant with the responsibilities and tasks indicated below. The Senior Accountant will be based in Kinshasa at the PATH/DRC/Kinshasa Country Office. He will directly report to the Senior Finance Officer who is supervised by the Director of Administration and Finance.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Maintains financial records and monitoring systems to record and reconcile expenditures; payment; balances; statements and other data for day-to-day transactions and reports;
- Work on monthly and annual closure by process assigned schedules in Business world;
- Follow-up and record all cash receipts in Business world; and ensure a good filing of cash receipt vouchers with supporting documentation in accordance with organizational standards;
- Responsible for initiating payment of vendors. Ensures accuracy and completeness of information required by Senior Finance Officer;
- Ensure all accounting entries are posted within the time lines in Business World- Global Accounting Software;
- Review the payroll and make sure difference taxes and allocations are well calculated: INSS; INPP; ONEM; IPR; etc.; and make sure staff are paid on time;
- Manage PATH bank accounts and reconcile at the end of the month;
- Reviews the General Ledger to ensure that activity and balances are timely reconciled and adjusting journal entries are prepared when necessary;
- Track advances using available tools and share information with Senior Finance Office monthly;
- Work closely with Senior Finance Officer and others as required;
- Track payment of Health Centers and Zones in provinces and report any delay or unusual payment to the Senior Finance officer;
- Support staff on compliance with Path financial procedures and policies;
- Make payment and post details of beneficiaries to OMNI online banking;
- Respond on timely basis to vendors inquiries on payments;
- Maintain payroll records in Business World;
- Retrieve required documentation if queried by International Accounting Team;
- Provide direct oversight and support to the Finance Team and ensure all transactions and financial reports are following PATH Policies;
- Any other duty as requested.
Required Experience
- Degree in business administration, finance, or accounting;
- A minimum of five years of experience working in health and development programs with substantial expertise in accountancy, in the financial and regulatory aspects of USAID and other donors;
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills in English and French;
- High numeracy and sound technical skills;
- Analytical approach to work;
- Problem-solving skills and initiative;
- Strong attention to detail and an investigative nature;
- Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize;
- Able to work as part of a team and to build strong working relationships;
- Ability to make quick but balanced decisions;
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications such as Quick Books, Quicken and other financial management software systems.
This position does not attract international terms and conditions. The post holder will be considered as a local staff and will not have international terms and conditions of employment. Applicants considered for this position are to be DRC nationals. This position is based in Kinshasa Candidates outside of Kinshasa will be responsible for their relocation expenses.
