Position : Technology Delivery Officer
Location : Kinshasa
Direct supervision : Cassava Compact Leader
Contract duration : Two years contract with possibility of renewal

Main Responsibility
- Assisting the Cassava Compact Leader in the day-to-day large-scale delivery of cassava technologies and innovations that guarantee economic benefits to the users.
- Assisting the Cassava Compact Leader in the collation of all quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports for submission to the Program Management Unit, IITA management or the Clearinghouse.
Specific Duties and Responsibility
Under the supervision of Cassava Compact Leader, the Technology Delivery Officer
will perform the tasks below:
- Responsible for valuating farm resources, analysis of cost of cassava operations under out-grower schemes, determining equitable price formation, and establishing fair contract arrangements between out-grower farmers and the buyers of cassava;
- Assisting in identifying, mobilizing and registering all the key cassava value chain actors in each cassava compact country;
- Contributing to needs identification and how to address them to create incentives for rapid uptake of the cassava technologies and innovations being out-scaled;
- Assisting the Cassava Compact Leader in preparing agreements with service providers and other partners detailing the targets, timeline, material and human resources required by each actor and how to source these;
- Collaborating with public agricultural research and extension institutions, development partners, NGOs and other innovation service providers to implement services that can bolster the success of cassava transformation;
- Assisting the Cassava Compact Leader in organizing country-level training courses led by FARA, AATF/IFPRI, and other technology or innovation service providers;
- Developing and implementing strategies for empowering youth and women to benefit from cassava technologies and innovations;
- Participating in the writing of project proposals for food technology outreach campaigns at country level and ensuring agreed actions are implemented towards technology delivery by partner organizations and the private sector;
- Facilitating the production and distribution of technology dissemination tools, including print, audio and video materials;
- Carrying out any other tasks assigned by the supervisor(s).
Education, Experience and Personal Attributes
- The candidate should have a post graduate degree in Agricultural Extension, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship Development, Agricultural Economics or a closely related field;
- At least five years of work experience in smallholder agri-business management, technology dissemination or scaling;
- Proficiency in French language and working knowledge of English languages is compulsory;
- Excellent knowledge of agribusiness development models, and training of agriculture entrepreneurs on business and financial management, including budgeting, feasibility assessment and marketing;
- Experience building the capacity of smallholder farmers, out-grower groups, processors, agro-dealers, and other agriculture value chain actors;
- Experience in developing and implementing youth empowerment models will be an added advantage;
- Demonstrated ability to write, publish, and disseminate technical reports, success stories, and promotional materials;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional, and multi-cultural environment.
