Job purpose description*
|
This role is accountable for the Bank’s physical and other security operations. The role is aimed at ensuring tight security standards and disciplines are observed and entrenched across the Bank with the objective of influencing sustainable and efficient operations in line with Standard Bank Group security standards and regulatory guidelines. This role can be extended to ensure efficient operations of the Bank’s facilities, buildings and Assets management through delivery of logistics and general service support to staff, the management in line with the Bank objectives.

|
- Assist in operating information collection system in place in the bank for security and participate in data interpretation and timeously and accurately and accurately address situations and information that are a treat to the Bank.
- Assist in the general security situation analysis to provide strategic prediction of security trends and patterns for the department.
- Provide data related to security to be considered for sound analytical and systematic reports for department review and management involvement for actions and risk mitigation.
- Participate in the security risk assessment and identification/definition projects to determine the risk level and nature.
- Responsible for access control for staff, clients’ staff, customers and visitors into the bank’s premises.
- Analyse security assessed information and provide responsible recommendations.
- Be involved on site selection for Branch construction to ensure the security requirements are met in line with the Bank’s standards and centre approvals for security installations.
- Ensure involvement in sign off blue prints for branches, ATM’s, cash centres and head office buildings by country
- Supervision of installation of Security equipment, Access control, CCTV, Alarms, Fire detection.
- Ensure security controls in line with established security framework for the country Head Office and Branches with a focus on value and purpose drive security solutions.
- Closely tracking the security threats and alerting the security management channel as necessary
- Constant monitoring of security equipment and ensuring its maintenance and upgrade timeously in line with the required standards, approved minimum standards for physical security to be adhered to, in line with Group Standards and Central Bank requirements.
- Train staff and guarding service providers on relevant SOP.
- Ensuring SLA implementation and vendors compliance to the agreed KPI for guarding and Police.
- Taking accountability of security breaches and playing the role of a security champion within the Bank
- Assist in the development and implementation of Security Awareness programmes for both staff and clients (internal and external).
- Supervising security guards and conducting surprise checks as necessary.

- Provide Information, Guidance and necessary protection for SBA Travelers into the SBA Regions directly and through support of the Control room

Execute health and safety processes in the corporate office

- Ensure that designated health and safety officers are appointed in line with local regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the appointment of internal health and safety representatives including evacuation wardens, first aiders, fire wardens etc. Keep track of the competence training of the representatives and work with Human Capital to arrange new appointee and refresher training.
- Ensure the installation of signage and notices as required according to the bank and local building regulations. Arrange maintenance of emergency lighting and fire safety equipment at the required intervals.
- Report all incidents of injury on duty as well as near misses. Investigate on the root causes. Provide reports to local authorities and insurers as required.
- Execute the scheduled fire drills evacuations at the required intervals and submit a report. Assist in the review of the results of the drills and make recommendations to management on procedures that need improvement
