
MAIN PURPOSE OF COUNTRY PROJECT DIRECTOR
The Country Project Director is responsible for coordinating and managing all activities for the Medicines, Technology and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program in DRC. S/he also serves as the technical lead for project activities focusing on infection prevention and control (IPC), and optimizing the use of antimicrobials, including antimicrobial stewardship (AMS). S/he is responsible and accountable for the development, regular update, and implementation of country work plans and budgets to ensure the attainment of program goals and objectives in line with the project’s mandate and approaches, and to contribute to the goals of the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) and of the local USAID Mission and government partners. S/he is the primary liaison between the project and the local USAID Mission, local government counterparts, stakeholders, and partners involved in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), pharmaceutical management activities, and/or implementing related programs in the country, such as IDDS, CDC, and the Global Health Supply Chain (GHSC) Project. The Country Project Director provides strategic and technical guidance to and is accountable for the management of the project’s country office, and works closely with the assigned Portfolio Manager and other project home office technical and operational staff based in the United States (Arlington, Virginia) and other MSH projects in the country to ensure that the plans and activities of the MTaPS Program effectively address the country’s priority pharmaceutical and commodity management needs. As the head of the Country Leadership Team, he or she ensures the timely and quality delivery of project products and activities and supervises in-country staff.
